I trudge through the thick snow, unable to see where I'm going. It's a brand new year here in Tynastera, and you'd think that the weather would of let up. I guess not.

I've been traveling for several days. From Glorfindal to Dusk Hallow. I didn't think it would take this long. Damn snow.

I walk a little further, only to stop when I see a light, faint as it is, through the blizzard. I head for it. I hope it's an inn. I think to myself.

Wait a minute..I've never seen this building before. I knock on the door once. Then twice. I jump a bit when i realize that the door has unlatched and came open. I move forward, peering around the door into a dimly lit room. There's a fireplace on the furthest wall, a bed to my right, and a table with two chairs to my left. I'm startled by an old man sitting at the table, smoking a pipe, looking a bit distant. The old man has a long beard, a pointy hat, and a long cloak. You'd think he was a wizard.

The old man gestures to the seat across from him. Letting out a puff of smoke, the old man says in a gravely voice, "Have a seat. Please."

I look at the old man quizzically. I feel a little uneasy, but the feeling passes as my body takes over, moving towards the heat of the fireplace. Shutting the door behind me, I say in a silent voice, "I'm sorry for the intrusion, sir." I walk over and sit down at the table with the old man. "Thank you for letting me come in. You see, I was traveling and got caught in the storm. Would it be much trouble if I was able to stay here until the blizzard lets up?" I hope he understood me through my chattering teeth.

The old man takes another puff of his pipe. "The blizzard won't let up, but sure. Stay here as long as you want." He looks a bit angry. His eyes seem to be caught in another scene, not really paying attention to time right now.

I feel a little worried. "What do you mean?" How could he know the blizzard won't let up? It's just weather...right?

The old man starts mumbling. "Oh it's all my fault." He puts his head on the table, as if he's ashamed of himself, or very disappointed.

I feel a bit selfish for not helping him, "Are you okay? Can I help you with anything?" He is letting me stay here after all.

The man sighs a bit, taking his pipe out of his mouth and leans up facing me. He thinks for a bit. "I think you can. I'm Father Time, and I've lost Baby New Year. Without Baby New Year attending the New Years Party, the season wont change into spring, and we'll all be stuck in winter. I need you," he emphasises, pointing at me, "to find Baby, and get him to the large clearing outside of Dusk Hallow. That's where we have the New Years party every year with the Faeries, and other magical creatures. It's the only way to free the spring spirits from their slumber and have them take control of the world again." The old man seems a little out of breath, and anxious.

I'm sure I look a little taken by surprise. Th whole story is a little unbelievable. I guess I should try, though. I've heard of odder things in the world. "Yeah, I'll find him." Then I remember the blizzard. "Oh! But the blizzard. How will I be able to--" I don't get to finish because the old geezer cuts me off.

"Oh I'll slow down time a bit. I'd have to anyway. It's ten o'clock right now. The New Year is only two hours away! You better get going!" The old man starts to shove me towards the door, but stops and says, "Oh! By the way, my name is Marvin!" He smiles at me and continues pushing me out of the door.

Marvin is about to shut the door when I hold the door open and ask, "But what do I DO? Where do I start?" I have no clue where a baby would be, let alone a mythical baby!

Marvin stares at me blankly for a second. "Oh yes, of course. You see. I'm sure he's lost his top hat. So you'll need to find that. The invitations didn't get to the Phoenix's in the cave on the eastern side of the valley. Then, I think that the faeries need help putting the decorations up for the party. I'm sure baby will be near one of those three places. Oh! Wait!" Marvin disappears from the door way and reappears a few seconds later with a silk sash with the numbers "2011" on it. "Here. Take this. When you're near Baby, the sash will grow hot and glow. It was spun by wood nymphs. Magical and all that. Is that all you need?"

A little dumbfounded, I nod my head. "Yeah. I-- I got this. I'll find baby. I guess I'll see you as soon as I can."

Marvin nods and closes the door. I turn to start walking east, towards the Phoenix's Cave when I notice the snowflakes slow down. They're falling towards the earth so slowly, it's as if gravity isn't a factor. Then, it dawns on me. "I guess this is what Marvin meant by slowing time down a bit.", I say aloud to myself.
